Well worth the tame, too, it looks great - one of my favorite pets. Watch out when fighting him, though. It has an attack that snares you for 30 seconds, and a rather annoying 2-minute poison. Comment by in RP, as you all know, the spider lives inside the cave. Comment by Chaxton Every time I'm out on an alt, killing spiders for the Totem of Infliction quest in Darkshire, I always wait to kill Naraxis for the final vial.
Sounds kinda RPish, but hell, it sure makes for an exciting end to the quest. From a paladin's RP view, however; "As I walked through the woods, up a hill, the number of large widow spiders increased. As I cut them down, I heard a more devious noise. I questioned if it was a spider, or something worse. I enter a cave, and suddenly, I'm pinned to the wall by a powerful web. I struggle, struggle, struggle ever so frantically, not knowing what kind of spider could net me with such force.
I look forward, and find a bunch of mutilated corpses and moss growing on skeletons. Suddenly, a large pack of corpses moves, and reveals it's a spider!
This monster was bloody red, and had green markings on its abdomen. Trying to calm down, I remember my teachings. I cast upon myself a blessing that frees my hand, and as the spider leaps at me, ready to envenom me and turn me into dinner, I swing my mace. I wake up several minutes later, and find the spider dead.
The beast's face and two left limbs were crushed from my hammer, the acidic slime from its mouth melting away the webbing. I was freed from the sinister spider's grasp. I scoop up a sample of the spider's venom, and hastily escape the cave. Gained exp! Comment by He is really easy to kill I just did on my 25 fury warrior barely got me to half health but I also have alot of blues from SFK but you can probably kill him if your 25 or up.
Comment by Amme Just tamed him. Wasn't expecting him to be there, but got lucky. Easy tame though. Comment by hullabullaman To all those who wrote 'he' or 'him', i think it's a she. Nice spider to tame if you have the patience. I had to wait 4 and a half hours. Good luck! Comment by By far my favorite pet.
I accidentally killed her the first time i found her. Took me three days to run into her again. Love the skin color.
Comment by Proved to be a very useful pvp pet for me as I leveled my hunter. Web is gooold :. Comment by Allakhazam I too got her on my first try. Now, I have her as a pet! Comment by Allakhazam after a few failed attempts i gave up and got a ghost cat, by chance came by tonight, daw the red dot "naraxis" dumped the cat and bang I spent more time on here the on my death flyer and hes a lvl 25 now, he's a keeper. Comment by Allakhazam This camp wasn't all that bad.
I camped her cave for about 1. Comment by Allakhazam I don't think this is one of those long 8 hour spawns. Probably more like the Rake, about I emailed a picture several weeks ago, but they still haven't updated yet. Widow type body, but red body and green spots on back. I have definitely never seen anyone with this before. Edited, Mon Mar 28 Comment by Allakhazam I figured at most 3 and a half hour spawn.
She wasn't there when I logged in at about 3 central time , but she was there at around central time. Keep in mind I didn't keep a constant watch over the place. I was about to log off when I decided to check one more time. Fairly easy kill for a lvl 26 rogue. I was going for the dagger but I got the armor husk of naraxis or something like that its mail.
I might check again tonight. Comment by Allakhazam hmmm Comment by Allakhazam Ok, I came here looking for information on Naraxis and found what was posted to be useful. Here's the rest of what I thought might be desirable. Spawn Time: Don't know precisely, but I waited for approximately an hour Shadowmelded in her cave and she appeared.
Also, I got her at 1pm EST, so daytime spawns definitely happen. Comment by Allakhazam just by luck, i gave up waiting for here a while ago, went and got a cat Comment by Allakhazam Luckily for me, the first time i went in her cave, she was there. I've gone back every time I'm in duskwood and she hasn't been there. I would say that rather than make low chance of getting a good item, in this case, there's simply a low chance of finding the mob at all. Comment by Allakhazam last night, waited and ended up logging out my hunter on the hill next to his cave and periodicallyd jumped in to see if he spawned.
Nothing all night, till I jumped in around 1am CST, there he was! Bailed my disposable mastiff and grabed this little guy.
Hit me for over hps a few times, netted me and infected me all in the process. Will run him around today and see if I like him enough to bail my scorpion. Slow attack speed BTW, only 2. Comment by Allakhazam i was scouting and i walked in there and saw her she was a realy easy kill got bolth dagger and armer.
Comment by Allakhazam I wanted the dagger but the first time i went to the cave i found her, killed easily at lvl 28 ,she is 27 silver elite btw. Got the husk. Waited an hour for respawn, didnt come so moved on. Comment by Allakhazam got this spider at my forth visit, really easy to tame just use freezing trap. Comment by Allakhazam At lvl 44, having spent dozens of levels with one and the same pet I decided that I wanted a second pet to alter between.
I wanted something original, maybe a spider Made this decision at midnight, got to the cave around am. With no signs of improvement from my regular bad luck when I want something, Naraxis was not there.
Watched a movie - kept jumping back to WoW every 15 - 20 minutes to be greeted with a void. At around am, still no Naraxis - I began to read what others had said about it. Saw how happy the ones who had gotten it was, and the reactions they got from the population - talked me into keeping at it. Having checked five - six times every hour. Not seen any other player around through the entire time, I couldn't help fear that Naraxis had been bugged.
As I was just about to take a wild shot and open a ticket about it, the darn thing spawned. The smile on my face as I saw the ghostly materializing effect as it formed before my eyes tore my face apart! Suddenly terrified I threw my eyeballs out through the cave-opening just to make sure that there wasn't some other mischievious entity around to pry the creature from my owning.
I threw down a Freezer, thereby breaking shadowmeld, and went at it. Took me TWO tries to tame it and now I can say with solid certainty that I do am in the posession of the most unique and cool looking hunter's pet on my realm!
Was it worth 12 hours of spawncamping and lack of sleep for over 24 hours? Well, as I have quickly levelled it up to 36 and going and seeing how it grows bigger and bigger.
Admiring its wonderful red and green colors Thriving in the gasping aws that I get from everyone I meet Hearing the sploschy sound as it walks along beside me Was it worth it? Comment by Allakhazam I took a wrong turn while looking for iron in the area and bumped into this beast. Killed it, got the husk which was a pretty spiffy albeit butt ugly replacement for my current body armor. How perfect is that? Only had to wait about an hour, and there were several other toons in the area, at least one of them obviously camping the spawn location so I suspect the respawn time is short a couple hours at most.
Dropped the Fang first try, wewt. Comment by Allakhazam I tamed it today. Comment by Allakhazam Ten minutes after posting a reply to Zoura, and barely camping since last night, I bagged Naraxis. Instantly I ran off to the Darkshire flight point and was complimented by a 70 hunter on my choice.
She is an awesome looking spider, although I do wish she came with more than just Bite 1. Still, I'll level to 30 and see what happens after that, but I think I found my exotic pet. Comment by Allakhazam You guys have got to be kidding me. I've killed Naraxis almost like 20 times. Sometimes she's there, sometimes she's not. The dagger always fetches 1g on my server.
She spawns at least once a day. I suggest just checking back once in awhile, don't wait, there's no point. Not many people hunt for her in my experience, so you shouldn't have that much trouble running into her on a low pop server. Flaws with jshadow's argument: Case: jshadow was there 3, came back Possibility: -someone killed her earlier than 3 could be way earlier , that makes the wait time way more than 3.
And evokilla's msg made me laugh off my chair. Maybe I'll do that for all rare mobs. Edited, Mon May 9 Comment by Allakhazam I found Naraxis yesterday when i was doing my mining routine.
I've been there several times when i only found Iron en Tin Ore but yesterday the ore was guarded :P so i knew she had to be rare. Tayagamar Lvl 31 Paladin "Deathwing". Ice trap and that lasted almost as long as the taming bar. I searched for her in early afternoon and found nothing, came back and saw her there later that night and swiped her up.
It really is something having folks gawk at her. Then again, I'm really all about the pets. Comment by Allakhazam i think you have to kill a few spiders in front of her cave for her to spawn.
I went there to kill here today and she wasnt there. I decided to kill a few spiders in front of her cave and after like 3 kills she spawned. Comment by Allakhazam i wondered of there this morning not knowing who Naraxis was. I just saw the little cave on the map and she was their waiting for me. I'm a warrior so I just killed her : she dropped hush and some spider's silk Edited, Oct 29th at am PST by tedrock.
Comment by Allakhazam Hi everyone : Dwarf Hunter lvl 28 almost 29 and have been reading these posts.. I am sitting in Duskwood atm, but everytime I have tried to get to that cave where Naraxis is.. I hit a mtn or hill. Which road out of Darkshire do I take? The road that Stitches walks? Or - the road leading past the Griff Master? Comment by Allakhazam Been waiting for over three hours now.
Maybe it has a random spawn time. I've heard people saying they've killed it twice in two hours, while others saying they've waited 8 hours inside the cave. Hopefully it will hurry up for me! Comment by Allakhazam Ok, one warning about Naraxis, this thing is a PIG for meat to get it beyond "rebellious" when training. Thankfully I had a huge stash. I don't know if I am doing something wrong, but this thing is so pissy and requires constant meat to maintain happiness. Otherwise, it kicks butt.
Comment by squiretoad I just tamed Naraxis with my lvl 31 hunter in Classic version. Same cave, same spider, same colors. Tougher fight than I'd expected though: I used a freezing trap which stopped him for most of the tame. But then he got loose, hit me with a web, and damned near killed me! I had to use a healing potion to last long enough for the tame.
Once done though, nice enough pet. Nothing special of course, and now I have to get meat for him along with the fish I usually keep for my other pets.
But that'll do, pig.
