Comment by Allakhazam this looks very nice.. Comment by Allakhazam I wonder what would happen if you Disenchanted Thunderfury. A nexus crystal? Comment by Allakhazam Okay, you're a rogue. It's got good dps, it's 9 foot long, and has a paragraph proc. Oh, and an orange name. The girls will want to be with you and the guys will want to be you. It is awesome. But is it worth it? It took me 8 months, 2 guilds, and 10k gold.
But the price you pay doesnt end there, and Im not talking about the 4. For every 1 compliment you get, you get 3 counts of harrassment, and there are ALOT of compliments.
You can't walk anywhere with it equipped without starting a conversation, or more likely an argument exactly like the ones here. But onto the damage. In 5 man dungeons, solo, and pvp, you will own. It will be as good as you expect. In the mainhand I get around 9 procs per minute over long term and I slice and dice fairly frequently.
In PVP it's total confusion with lightning and tornadoes hitting all thier d00dz. Perhaps an extra 20 dps on a rough guess. But while I was thinking about how expensive a moderate dps boost in a raid that was, I realized something.
TF's main benefit is not damage. TF's benefit is the proc. Not the I've got a max damage. So, obviously, it does benefit the tank, but also the tanks healers, which leaves more mana for them to heal everyone else. The argument about causing way too much aggro gain is like most of the arguments about Thunderfury. They're made by people who haven't used one. I've noticed very little increase in nasty aggro situations and certainly nothing uncontrollable. Anything short of a Grand Marshal's sword, Main hand it.
Don't care about your math, Ive tested it long term. So, in conclusion: Guilds should open up to the idea of a rogue having it. I'd say it's benefitted my guild just as much as if the tank had gotten it and Im sure they'd agree.
If I could go back and had the choice to bid on that first binding again, would I? I would pass on it. The effort put in is not worth the end result, in my opinion. Comment by Allakhazam Beastly weapon, has great skills and also has some awesome stuff. Comment by Allakhazam Guess it'll be nice for warrs and pallys, but useless for rogues. Comment by Allakhazam I thought I read somewhere that it dropped from him and only some druid was able to loot it cause he summoned it, though not the quest reward it is still RELATED to the quest.
Comment by Allakhazam Penumbra on Icecrown just got this sword yesterday. Comment by Allakhazam Anyone know what the proc rate has been lowered to since 1. The patch notes only stated that it had been lowered, not by how much. Comment by Allakhazam I guess there are still some things that are not clear. Yes, the sword is a quest reward. A reward for the quest where you need to kill Thunderaan.
And to summon Thunderaan you need both bindings of windseeker and 10 elementium bars and some other nice crap. So, there will be no "ninjaing this thing from Thunderaan" nor any n00b rogues with this weapon. No worries there. It's definitely a weapon for a tank. It couldn't be any more tanky even if the words "For tanks" were written on it. Also, checking the dps and max damage, no pvp warrior would specifically want this weapon either. The proc is awesome for both pvp and pve, but for pvp there are other very good 1handers that are easier to get.
Thunderaan is very easy to kill. I was there when my guild did it. We were a full man raid just because everyone wanted to see the boss, but I'm sure it'd go down with like.. Very easy with a few good healers and a good tank. I'd say a load easier than most MC bosses. Thunderaan obviously does nature damage, so if you are having problems which I would find weird , drink a few nature resist potions.
I'm guessing it also has some melee hit that sends one flying, since I saw some guildies fly in air. I doubt any server will see much rogues or paladins with this weapon. It clearly requires a LOT of work to get, and any guild that gets one will surely give it to their MT. Only if they get a second or third one, I could see a rogue or paladin getting it.
I doubt there are any pvp-oriented guilds that even have this weapon. So it's pointless to argue about which class would be best with this weapon, 'cause it'll go to the tank and be used in pve mostly. Comment by Allakhazam were does a binding drop? Comment by Allakhazam Chromatically tempered sword isn't even on par with thunderfury. CTS is more reliable in pve for raid damage, however its not even close to being on par with what thunderfury does in pvp.
Comment by Allakhazam well dunno about this but we have in our guild rank 14 warrior with r14 sword and he is 1st and 2nd in dmg meters at ragnaros for example If I had a chance to have this on my rogue I'd pass it to a tank.
Two rogues on Kil'Jaeden now use Rippers over this; it is still the best tanking weapon in the game. Fell free to contradict me or counter one of my points but there is no reason to take this over a warrior. Comment by Allakhazam so does fatal and knight wray.
Comment by Allakhazam Very nice blade I wonder how much it costs to make it. Comment by Allakhazam What is better on main hand for sword rogues, this or chromatically tempered blade? Comment by Allakhazam ok of course it would go to warrior before a rogue or hunter but anyone can get i mean ive seen a rogue with it and he didnt ninja and a hunter had it and they both kicked ass. Once again it would go to a warrior first then rogue or hunter or paladin then very very rarely a mage or warlock.
Comment by Allakhazam Awsome sword, I got my mind set on gettin it the only bad thing about it is the contreversy of which class should use it. Comment by Allakhazam Just like to say that, I already have all the mats for this weapon. The only problem is finding a raid group willing to run Ragnoros. Everyone i ask says no one will run that anymore. Comment by Allakhazam Mages only, n00bs. Not really, but I don't suppose it would be a terrible thing for a caster to have.
Comment by Allakhazam This weapon flat sucks for a rogue at this point in time, period. The base damage on it is less than gutgore meaning your sinister strikes hit for A S S damage, on top of that it is 1. If you want to be a sword rogue with any type of brain get a Brutality Blade or a Viskaag the Bloodletter which are much easier to get than this.
This weapon should be warrior or paladin only. Maedhros - 60 Troll Rogue - Severed - Crushridge. Comment by Allakhazam Just got this baby yesterday. It completely annihilates everything and everyone. Antero - lvl 60 rouge - Shadowsong EU. Comment by Allakhazam Gentleman, start your speculating : A friend of mine found this in his lootlink db. It is NOT photoshopped or anything like that btw.
Edited, Tue Jan 24 Comment by Allakhazam i would say its sux for rogues But its pretty good for a rouge, in our guild they let the war's get it and not the rouges XD the rouges dont even seem to care either Comment by Allakhazam Someone with this, please clone your character and tell us how many Nexus Crystals you get! Comment by Allakhazam so yu go mine a iron depsit and it has a chance to drop lol. Comment by Allakhazam gave toa rouge instead of the awesome warrior my guild!
Comment by Allakhazam Hmm i just got my Thunderfury and its pure ownage people in arena just got so distracted when the Cyclone hits them. Procs very often and yes I'm a hunter and i do like this wep invested 3k gold in it guild helped me alot also. Many thanks! I know it suits a warrior or a rouge and they get full advantage of it!
Comment by Allakhazam I keep seeing these posts saying how many better weapons there are for a rogue than this, and I'm not saying there aren't, since I haven't gone through all the different weapons available, but would someone mind posting some links to so of these static drops or quest rewards that would serve as a better off-hand sword?
Comment by Allakhazam Though this sword isn't as amazing as before for tanking, it is still a decent competitor.
It's hard to call it the best now, with the new weapons in the expansion, but it can still hold its own. I get downright flamed sometimes for carrying a phantom blade with my warlock. Why do i do it? Look up there, see that word, Flair.
Because it looks cool. I could careless about my stats as I'm yet to get into end game raiding. I think it'd be fun to watch all these melee classes piss a fit because a caster was wielding one of these. Comment by Allakhazam Whoever said a rogue wouldn't want this because it would instantly draw a severe beating onto said rogue was correct. Although single target this weapon is legendary quality for a rogue or anyone else, from what I've heard about the procc rate Everything else in this thread is either wrong, skewed, upside down or backwards.
One cute example is the attack power in relation to weapon speed diagnosis. Since the servers are down and I've got nothing to do, I'll correct you, poor misguided uncle's son. Attack power functions this way, for everyone: 14 attack power translates to 1 dps. So if you're swinging a weapon with 1. Continuing on, if you're swinging a weapon with 4. The only difference is that you'll be getting damage a swing from your attack power with the 4. In short: you're wrong, Attack power translates to the same net damage on auto-swing, for instant attacks slower weapons will receive a bigger boost from attack power regardless of weapon speed.
Someone else who demonstrated correct understanding of the effect of attack power said that Ashbringer is bad for Mortal Striking. Quite the hilarious statement considering Ashbringer is a top end Two handed sword with a 4. You meant Thunderfury is bad for MSing, and it's clearly intended to be used for heroic striking. Great warrior weapon, decent rogue weapon. Paladins and hunters aren't real people. They're zombies. Edited, Tue Jul 26 Just too bad by the time you got it, you wouldn't be running instances where you can survive five mobs :.
ROFL maybe your raidgroup is stupid enough to give this weapon to a paladin - maybe i will never be able to beat a skilled paladin with my warrior but u are talking about pvp and not pve - this blade is made for pve. The ONLY thing your class should do in mc and bwl is hitting your "decurse" button crossheal like crazy and buff the whole raid.
Learn to play your char in pve and shut up man Comment by Allakhazam were do the bindings drop and whoever was talking about arcane wrath thing the was a guy with sulfuras hammer of restoration he said it was fake. Comment by Allakhazam dont know much about warriors duel wielding so dont jump on me please. Comment by Allakhazam this is definatly a hunters weapon!
Comment by Allakhazam Is the weapon good for rogue? Comment by Allakhazam This is such a Priest Weapon. Joking Hehe, We're working as a guild to get one for our main man Nltermi.
The guy's a master tank, and if anyone in our guild should ever wield one of these, its him. We're close. Most of the Arcanite has been gathered, and the MC Drops have been good to us. Fingers crossed, yeah? Comment by Allakhazam alright people, ive read most of the posts and im getting the impression that u guys think that a warrior should have priority over a rogue Comment by Allakhazam Why Warlock? Warlocks can melee, not well, but they can.
For everyone else, this is an offhand. Hunter would get the least use out of it, and now point Rogues in the expansion will have that ability that attacks with both weapons at once. This means they can still spam attacks and proc it off. Fury Warriors might love this as an offhand and all, but seeing as they get a lesser use because none of their skills use the offhand, they aren't priority.
So really, the first to get this should be 41 Assassination Rogues, followed by Warlocks. My guess is that your guild isn't going to be able to deck out all their Rogues with Thunderfury, so Warlocks probably will never get to see it. Comment by Allakhazam i wish i had this Edited, Oct 10th pm by Earogon. Comment by Allakhazam What server? Pleeeease be on all Comment by Allakhazam shyt, this is nice. Comment by Allakhazam Maybe your spelling shocked him to death. Comment by Allakhazam Anyone know the name of the song in the "nerf george"-movie?
Comment by Allakhazam this is a priest wep! Comment by Allakhazam how do i make it or get it plz tell me i need to know im a level 60 warrior i need it and if anyone who tells me that is on silver hand ill send them gold. Comment by Allakhazam for all you pople whining about what class a weapon it is That's just a bug, that's all It's just some bug on Allakhazam Comment by Allakhazam yep as on 1.
Comment by Allakhazam lock item all the way. Its aoe pulls VERY good aggro and its fast as hell Not to mention its slow effect and the extra nature damage which can give extra threat. Tanks dont need as much power as rogues buddy. ONly prob with it would have to be in sheep fights, but otherwise its absolutley insane for tanking.
It procs Comment by Allakhazam Go for it! That way no one will want it! So when the Bindings do drop it will be all mine! Comment by Allakhazam My Dream sword Edited, Jan 30th pm by Hautsen. Comment by Allakhazam I can't believe people are still QQ'ing about this sword. Have you never been in a guild where the MT actually had Tfury? I've seen a guild with 7. Every single one of the people who had it was a tank. With the exception of 1, who was a rogue.
There's a reason the weapon proc slows down enemy attack speed, and I'll tell you this, its not so the rogue has to dodge less. End of Story, Tanking weapon. Level 70 Prot warriors still prefer Tfury over any other tanking weapon, no matter what its top end dmg is, because the procc holds a hell of alot more aggro than anyone thinks it does, and ontop of that, it procs on enemies who are CC'd, and doesn't break CC.
As in, you sheep 2 targets and seduce 2, the tank's proc will hit the guy he's tanking, and the 4 others next to him, thus gaining aggro on 5 mobs at once, without breaking CC. And like I said, its a damn good amount of aggro for it being a simple weapon proc. As for pallies, well, I haven't seen much pally action before TBC, but as of 70, i've seen pallies tank as well as warriors, so in what i've seen, they're a viable player to recieve one, as long as they're protection specc or whatever its called for pallies This comes from a priest who's seen just about every instance out there including naxx.
Comment by Allakhazam Where does this come from? Comment by Allakhazam Gratz on the sword Wray! Mind posting a screenshot with you and that mythical blade? Edited, Tue Oct 4 Comment by Allakhazam I have heard from quite a few people that this is the best MT weapon period I currently tank for my guild and find that damage output has absolutely nothing to do with holding aggro I mean personally I would rather have bloodlords defender than this Comment by Allakhazam i bet you that wray dude is like the only who has this item Comment by Allakhazam What does this Disenchant into?
Comment by Allakhazam yes the best one hander in game period stop trying to say its for one class. Comment by Allakhazam this is a legendary weapon only one ever. Comment by Allakhazam You just imagine Dual wielding it!
Comment by Allakhazam i just read something that said you could get the quest to get thunderfury, so how would it be hard to do, apparently, all you gotta do is kill someone or thing.
Comment by Allakhazam what happens to the sheeps when it procs? Comment by Allakhazam if this was a rogue it isent gonna be a mainhand weapon Comment by Allakhazam dunno if mentioned before but will be one-handed in 1,12 patch, enjoy! Comment by Allakhazam allmost like Worn Shortsword , but not exactly. Comment by Allakhazam Why do most legendaries suck dmg wise? I mean, usually they have great buffs and enchantments but they have crappier damage then even some rare weapons.
Comment by Allakhazam God this thing is annoying in instances. All the mobs are surrounded by black dust so you can't see them. I'm sure it's a great blade, but put it away in instances please. Comment by Allakhazam This weapon is My dream. It's absolutely beautiful. For anyone who thinks otherwise, here's a few examples. Protection-based warrior: IMO this sword would sit best with a protection Warrior. The aim of a protection warrior are mainly just to hold mobs and provide support to other classes, right?
Not only does this sword massly decrease the nature defense of enemies, making your Druid and Shaman teammates do more damage, not only does it lower an enemies attack speed making you take less damage, but it also hits, in effect, 6 enemies. This is basically an area-effect taunt. It would not only do great damage to 5 enemies near you and lure them, but it would also do mass damage to the enemy you target, basically buff druids and shammies, and is 1-handed.
It's also quick, meaning you could keep steady threat being generated and increase the effect of the talent and defense-stance given threat bonuses.
It's absolutely best suited to a defense warrior, I believe. Rogue: Rogue have poisons, poisons are nature damage. Buff yourself. Hunters: Hunters also have nature damage. Same as above. Paladins: Paladins have a lot of useful things that effect lots of enemies, such as auras. Once again, like Protection Warriors, it would make a lot of enemies want to attack you, making you the main focus of the area, and also lure a lot of them to attacking your nice little Aura of Retribution.
Overall, I think this sword is best for Protection types, but it's really good for any class that can get it. You'd have to be careful however, as it could also work against you if you're in a large place where there's lots of enemies, and you have a number of tanks who each take a couple of enemies, since you could unwittingly attract more enemies than intended.
Likewise for Hunter and Rogue, you could pull enemies that haven't been aggro'd by anyone yet. Due to this, you'd have to take serious caution with this weapon, and maybe even put it away during certain battles where you can't afford to attract too many enemies. But all in all GOD I want one. Comment by Allakhazam any one think this wep does good in pvp? Comment by Allakhazam would prolly pwn if equippable to shaman the extra nature dmg and decrease of nature defense would be extrememly complimentary to LB and CL.
Comment by Allakhazam you know, this weopon looks like Nightmare's soul calibur, from soul calibur 2. Comment by Allakhazam did you know,Chromatically tempered sword is better? I carry a 2h mace on my arms warrior Kul Tiran but have it mogged to a pole arm that looks like a trident to go with the sea faring aspect of the race.
I do prefer the looks of 1 handed, yeah. Prior to Legion, both Titans Grip and Single-Minded Fury were core abilities, not talents, and Blizzard allowed players to choose which weapon type they preferred. Never really played warrior back then.
Actually leveled one to this expansion and may make a furry fury once Vulpera open. Preach it!! The lack of follow through into BfA or at least reverting back entirely was a bit short sighted, but Legions weapon system was pretty extensive with a ton of visual options for each. Alas, that was not the case.
