Comment by A really well done instance imo, blizz did a great job at recreating the event, as im sure anyone who's played WC3 would agree. For people just hitting 80, this can be a challenging instance, especially the first boss.
Meathook hits like a mac truck and stuns the healers to boot. This guide gives some good tips on how to deal with Meathook, and as well as Mal'Ganis' sleeps. Comment by In WC3, in process of slaughtering Stratholme, the one thing that completely amused me, that Arthas, still, by habit when got clicked on him, kept saying "I'm here to help".
Lol, kinda odd. Comment by guys what is the minimum level for this? Comment by lolkitteh In this dungeon, you will be turned into a human. Just a little note. Comment by Stigmata Remember the side entrance to strat in epl? It's here too. It says if you have key to the city it can be unlocked. However the invisible wall of devs prevents you from getting to it.
Comment by d3xx There is a portal from Dal to Tanaris. Its in the Violet Citadel. Comment by Puchatek i have a pretty sweet idea how Blizzard would have made Mal'ganis the hardest boss ever in WoW.. Comment by Sallara On the timed run, it's basically a clone of Stratholme normal, because in the normal one, you have to kill Baron and save Ysida in 45 mins, in this one, you gotta kill Infinite Corrupter and save the guardian of time in 25 mins.
Comment by You know No Scourge. No Blood Elves. No Blight. No Forsaken. No big bad voodoo. And -especially- no OP DKs. Think about it. You know it makes sense. Comment by Roguesoldier I don't think that this has been post yet, but: If you don't start the event with Arthas, you can explore the instance. There are about 5 vendors who are within the buildings Except for one.
Sells ammo There is also a cook somewhere in the instance, didn't see him though but a friend told me about it Also, there is a repairman on the road to where Arthas and his troops are camped out. Comment by Contender I'm a little confused. I have a 76 NE fury warrior, what level do you need to be to enter this instance because I need that two hand sword that looks like a viking ship. Comment by Contender lol i know a rarehunter- also calls himself hypnos. Comment by Most of you are forgetting that this was already planned out.
In Warcraft3, the "master" had already seen this. So it can't be changed. One way or another. It would of still happened. Comment by Yeah, but where is point going into this instance,if you're Horde? Comment by can anyone tell me what requires there are to a tank to be enable to do the the instance on heroic plzz?
Comment by Darthmrkew Side note: If Arthas dies, you don't have to reset. Just run through city to town hall and walk behind the bookshelf. Comment by You can obtain a total of 7 emblems of heroism when this is the daily heroic. Comment by Sorry but I was hoping the comments would explain this instance :D Someone point in the right direction of that info?
Comment by So far this only works on undead, but it seems upon eating a mgic eater and getting a transform debuff an undead can permanently lose the human illusion buff for the rest of the duration of your instance or until you die of course. So for those undead who hate how they look in human form or just loathe the humans all together fish up some magic eaters in the dalaran sewers and you can bounce around as your normal self.
Comment by sorry for the question, but can we do the culling of stratholme without doing old hillsbrad foothills, the black morass and the hyjal summit? Nobody would play such a game. By completing CoS, you are actually saving Blizzard from loosing all players:P. Comment by I really think they should have put more references to modern WoW like Old Hillsbrad did, but sadly, no.
Comment by TrollTrain can 78s enter this instance? I hope they will set it as raid instance and make some speed at walking :p. Comment by madarra tested a good group for this is 3 ret paly dps 1 prot paly tank 1 holy paly healer Holy Wrath rulz.
Normally i just race past this point straight to Corruptor and then to Mal'ganis, but a party member DCed so we did some sightseeing There are dead tallstriders here, which are native to Kalimdor. The humans only set sail for Kalimdor after the culling of Stratholme took place So how can these be here? Comment by chinmi Don't know if this is mentioned before. But if you're a druid and you're on The Culling Of Stratholme, we usually only see the human CoS model if we were on caster form.
I tried that on my druid in 3. Well, pretty cool for those lore fiends, those waves are kind of annoying and boring. Bosses are ok, nothing much. Negatives: Arthas walks too slow, boring fights. Positives: Easily attainable epic flight mount, great shield for starting tanks. Comment by Tren With the Hallows End event currently ongoing, i noticed that even CoS has been decorated for the event. Lorewise, this doesnt go, the forsaken had yet to be liberated. Logically speaking, as we are still entering the same event in time, even if Hallows End existed, the decor would have remained the same as the past few times we entered the instance pre Hallow's End.
Comment by I think this is the best Raid Instance ever Comment by SpectraKitty Guys, gals, there's nothing to do there except quests. It isn't hardly a dungeon at all. No active enemies to kill. I think Blizzard shut it down. Comment by the final speech of Arthas befor the Mal'ganis encounter sounds funny.
Comment by Recipe Add for Urggs comment. Comment by Merylyan An odd fact is that Stratholme, at least in Warcraft II, is was a coastal city with a developed harbor, which was home to a number of oil refineries. These refineries were destroyed by the Horde in this mission. I find a little odd that Stratholme seems to never had reconstructed its harbor, or maybe it's Blizzard's laziness that we don't see it.
Comment by If you need to repar before the start of the event that starts the instance there is a blacksmith shop that you can repair at that i found pretty cool. Comment by Dusklight Outside the instance portal is a town. Everyone object in that town is frozen in time. Except one. Yes, a horse beats the mystical time powers of dragons. The horse which is being ridden by a frozen guard does all of the epic horse mount idle animations.
Comment by Naturell This instance is based on Stratholmes' past, about seven years ago. You will begin by talking to Chromie. She will hand you a device to help you purge the plague out of 5 crates. After this agonizing event, you will talk to Chromie again in front of Stratholme and wait for Arthas, Uther and Lady Jeina Proudmoore. Arthas talks to Uther and Jeina about purging Stratholme completely, becuase of the plague. After this painfully long talk, including inside Stratholme when Arthas talks to Mal'Ganis, you will finally get to kick some ass.
You will have to destroy 10 waves of Scourge, including 2 bosses. After killing a few infinite dragonflight guys and their boss, you will soon be at Mal'Ganis himself. Defeat him and voila, you're done. On Heroic difficulty you can choose to do this dungeon on timed mode, wich means when you start you have to advance in 25 minutes until you save the Bronze Drake from another Infinite Dragonflight boss.
Comment by So no love for the waiting in this dungeon? Hate the waiting. Or were is simply omitted in the patchnotes? Comment by from 3. Comment by Sincloud With the addition of Patch 3. I started the event once, fell asleep at my keyboard for a bit, and then came back and still was doing good. Comment by As of the latest patch 3. This has removed my favourite pass time of ingame sex change- drink pygmy oil till you shirnk to gnome and get the sex change for some reason then use orb of sindorei, cue sex and race change, when the orb wears off you will be the opposite sex :P Why blizz have to fix little things that are so much fun is beyond me Comment by Cheryl Culling by definition is remove certain members of a group based on desired characteristics.
It is a term used in breeding or livestock. Also, culling is a term used for 3d graphics, where its determined which face of a polygon is to be drawn. I swear they weren't there when the last time I did Culling of Stratholme a couple months ago.
Comment by Lurelina I once found a glitch in here. I play an 80 shadow priest, and I had the Iron Boot Flask. I somewhat forget how this goes but it's something like you put on the Iron Boot Flask, then use Dispersion.
And then after it's over I think it removes the Iron Dwarf look. BUT, it also swaps your gender. All I did was post a true story that happened to me.
Comment by Jesterzzn Footman 1: All these damn toonbacks coming from the future and killing all these infected people for us. Footman 2: Dey took rrrrrrr jobs! Comment by Blood Elves DO have self control, in fact one of the first things the BE questgivers from the starting area recommend the player is to learn controlling one's hunger for magic, to avoid becoming one of the Wretched.
If there is only one lesson you deign to remember from your time on Sunstrider Isle, let it be this - control your thirst for magic. Failure is to become one of the Wretched Comment by hi guys i need a way to find the dungeon locations pls Comment by To those who didn't do it and have now leveled past it: it's easy to solo even as low as BUT: I did that on a prot pala, so your mileage may be different for other classes.
Was using the CoT portal as an easy way to get to dig sites and thought: "why not? Not a single death, but a word of advice on this one: - If you're soloing this you'll take your time but Arthas won't! So if you're there, give it a try and focus on keeping HP up.
At first I didn't even catch up with the waves of mobs, which meant that, in one particular situation, I had to deal with 2 such groups on one spot. Other than that, focus on keeping your HP high as you may get a couple stuns, especially from some bosses. I also used Resistance Aura, only replacing with Retribution Aura when fighting melee only mobs. In total, 5,3 M dmg done and 1,7 M dmg taken, with 1.
Comment by Mydge I tried to solo this as an 85 feral druid. Makes it a difficult solo as the mobs just reapply it when you dispel. Comment by George14 Can this be soloed with an 85 Arcane Mage? Comment by Esploratore George I don't know, I've never played a mage.
Midge: the one who does this debuff is the tomb spider, or something like that, however the spider between those, he damaged me for Soloed this at normal as a level 85 arms warrior with about item level, mal'ganis was quite challenging, as I survived with This time I tried to time right challenging shout, bladestorm, and other abilities used to force the enemies to attack me instead of arthas, or to damage them more quickly, and I made it.
The other bosses were ridicolous as a warrior, just dps and it's done, I'm even bad geared, actually. Victory rush also helps a lot clearing the non-boss waves, especially with glyph of victory rush it healed me for over Mal'ganis was quite easy with this little gear improvement, he mostly attacked me, but his area of effect damaged arthas till under Couldn't get the achievements "culling of time" and "zombiefest", though: for the first one there wasn't enough time, as for the second one zombies hit for over and if you stockpile too many of them it's hard to survive as a warrior, even with blood craze and field dressing.
I'll most probably retry both, anyway, "culling of time" isn't going to be hard. Comment by Infiniti To anybody trying to solo this, kill the Tomb Stalkers first! Apart from that, this place is cake. It took awhile to guide Arthas along and figure out to kill the main bosses of each wave but it did go successfully normal mode solo. The further in you go though, you do need to keep up! As others said, Arthas wastes no time from fight to fight and by the end I was worried he'd be pummeled to death before I could get there and loot the previous fight.
Thankfully, he was fine. In the city, the prince met with Mal "Ganis, better known as the Lord of Terror. It was he who told him about the plague and presented him with a choice: to destroy all the inhabitants with his own hands or watch his people slowly die, replenishing the troops of the king of the dead.
Arthas made a difficult decision: kill their subjects, destroy and burn the entire city, so that no man becomes a slave to the Scourge. This is exactly what players will have to do in the Culling of Stratholme dungeon.
How to get into it? We will tell you about this very soon, and before that we will find out what conditions the creators of WoW put before players who want to get into this instance. Characters who have reached level 75 can get into Stratholme "WoW". The level of mobs in this place, of course, will be higher than that of the players, but this is what allows you to pump the character faster. In normal mode, the passage can be repeated until the characters reach level It will be almost impossible for players to cope with mobs alone, so it is recommended to assemble a group of 5 people.
This can be done through the search for dungeons. If a group is recruited in advance and includes members of the same guild, players will receive additional rewards and a special achievement.
If the character has a higher level, then you can go through the dungeon alone. But for this you need to know the location of the Culling of Stratholme insta. Where is this dungeon located? Let's find out about it right now.
So, it's time to find out the location of the insta on the map. To find the dungeon, players will first need to enter the Caverns of Time, which can be found in Tanaris. In this place, many dungeons and raids are concentrated, the passage of which will help to dress the character and get several battle pets, mounts and complete game achievements. The cave is a large central hall, from which several passages depart, one of which leads to the Culling of Stratholme, where there are several powerful bosses at once.
There are several ways to get to the Caves. The first and most difficult thing is to get to them on your own. To do this, you must first get to Gadgetzan, a small village in Tanaris. Difficulties with this should not arise, since the route to this place opens already at level The Caverns of Time are located near this town inhabited by goblin mechanics, in the northern part of the location. An easier and faster way to get to the caves is to navigate through the portals.
First you need to teleport to Dalaran, the capital of Northrend. Then you should find the Violet Citadel in the city, in which any player can find a portal to the Caverns of Time. It is located on the second floor of the building.
If for some reason the player does not see the portal, he can contact the NPC and ask him to go to the location you need.
For those who have just started playing open-world computer games, it is worth remembering that the Caverns of Time are a contested territory. This means that, once in this place, you can face representatives of opposite factions. On PvE servers, such a meeting is not dangerous, but those who play in the PvP world may need to confront enemy players. So, your character has made it to the Caverns of Time. Where can we find the entrance to the dungeon we need? First, you just need to look around.
Since the Culling of Stratholme, judging by the plot, is a city, the passage to it should look like a city street. If you don't have time for a long search, you can unfold the map and see the exact location of the dungeon. It is worth noting that to enter the inst, you will need to walk along a fairly long passage, that is, a street, at the end of which you will see a portal to the dungeon.
Who will the brave five players have to face in the Culling of Stratholme dungeon? The first to stand in your path are Meathook and the necromancer Salramm the Fleshcutter. The first fully corresponds to its name - "abomination". From a ripped belly hangs something quite unpleasant to look at, and his body is swollen and deathly pale.
The Fleshcutter looks more decent, but it also smells of death. This is followed by the Chronolord of Ages and the final boss Mal "Ganis. On the heroic level of difficulty, you can catch an additional boss - the Defiler from the Infinity Clan.
He can be found in front of the last boss, if you turn left. Bronze Dragon. Immediately after entering the dungeon, players will be transformed: regardless of the faction and race of the character, he turns into a human.
In order to start the test, you need to get out of the excavated basement of the tavern, which, in fact, is the entrance to the inst. Climbing upstairs, you should find a baby named Chromie and take the quest "Destroyer" from her. In the course of this quest, you must find and neutralize 5 crates filled with plague-poisoned grain.
You can find them in any corner of the small settlement, which you will find yourself in after going outside the tavern. After the completion of the quest, Chromie will offer a new quest, which consists of escorting Prince Arthas to Stratholme.
The meeting with him and Uther the Lightbringer is to take place at the city gates. To get there faster, you can ride any mount. Players will witness a conversation between two crowned persons, after which it will be possible to go to the city to save it from the plague.
After entering Stratholme, Arthas will remain at the gate, and players will have to fend off many attacks from the Scourge. In order to better navigate which side the next attack will follow, you will have to constantly look at the map: the places of concentration of enemy troops will be marked with white flags.
It is worth noting that you will need to move very quickly, fighting off undead mobs on the go. Scourge groups are made up of a selection of random mobs, including mages, abominations, giant spiders and zombies.
After the fifth wave, the first boss appears in a random place of the city. Having coped with it, the players will have the same running around the streets of Stratholme. This will continue until then. While you are 5 packs of Scourge troops, after which the second boss will enter the battle.
By killing him, although you will move forward, you will not complete the cleansing of Stratholme from the forces of evil. Next, players will meet with Arthas at the door of the town hall. Having assured him of your support, you will be able to advance towards the three remaining bosses no longer alone, but together with the prince. Like other dungeons, The Culling of Stratholme will require a certain amount of skill and coherence from players.
There should be no problems with the first boss, since the Meathook does not have unpleasant abilities. But the necromancer Salramm the Fleshcutter can cast a spell on any member of the group and turn him into a skeleton. This does not affect the character's abilities in any way, so it is important to continue the fight regardless of this factor.
The Fleshcutter also periodically summons crowds of ghouls, which must be controlled by the tank. The boss with his abilities can blow up one of the ghouls, so the healer should carefully monitor the health of the tanking player. What should players pay attention to at the second stage of the passage of the dungeon?
