Why religions cannot coexist

Consider how the Abrahamic faiths understand Jesus Christ. In Islam, Isa Jesus is a messenger of God. Jesus cannot coexist with contradictory claims to truth made in other faiths. If Jesus had been content with coexistence he might have escaped crucifixion. We should live peaceably with all people Rom.

The assertion that all faiths are the same and there is no exclusive truth is itself a doctrine, and one that excludes all but the universalist. It represents an incoherent quest for tolerance. What, then, about a coherent philosophy of tolerance? What about the idea that all faiths contain and reveal some elements of truth? Through his life, Jesus not only showed that he was the worthy Savior. As the supreme Prophet of the world, he claimed matter of factly his own exclusive place as Savior of the world.

Jesus is making an exclusive claim that means there is only one path to forgiveness, one truth that matters and only one way to heaven.

Many religions had already had their start before Jesus of Nazareth came on the scene. Sure, Jesus died for making such claims, but they were and are still well-founded. Three days after he died, Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He proved his claims and vindicated himself.

Over a period of 40 days, the resurrected Lord Jesus hung around earth strategically appearing to his followers of them. They became witnesses. It is only Jesus who can save us from sin. Only God can save us from God, and that is good news. Exclusivity salvation from sin through faith only in Jesus Christ and inclusivity any religion can save are polar opposites.

Lewis admonishes us in his classic Mere Christianity not to patronize Jesus by granting him the status of a merely great teacher.

If he is crazy or self-deceived, then, make room. Jesus is either Lord of all or not Lord at all. I am sorry if my church or fellow Christians over time and around the globe have projected some kind of one-upmanship.

I am sorry if we have made Christianity to be anything else but the crucified and risen Jesus Christ. We get distracted sometimes, and sometimes we confuse. Jesus is right, and I want you to know him. I want you to experience him.
