She was a solid woman who put family first.

We used to play with the girls in our neighbourhood and get fresh — not too fresh! When I was about 11, I can remember chasing them, giving them a pinch and then a kiss. I was always around my sisters' friends growing up, so I never felt uncomfortable around the opposite sex.

It was easier for me to chat with them because they were always coming over to our house. I went to an all-boys school, St George's College, in Kingston. The girls' college wasn't far away.

I had a crush on an older girl when I was at high school. I liked her but it was a silent attraction. I didn't tell her how I felt, I just kept it to myself. I am a kind person by nature and would try to give girls gifts - like flowers or food - to show my affection. I had a few girlfriends in my teens. I guess like any relationship at that age, they didn't last. I would be committed in the beginning but then my feelings would change. I would quickly find another girl to date, and when it didn't work out I would move on.

I had my heart broken and I broke hearts. What I know about women is that it takes time to get to know them, you never really completely understand them, but experiences in life do help. I was shallow in my youth and I wasn't in tune with women. I didn't know what it takes to make a relationship work when I was young, but it takes more than just physical attraction. When I met my wife, Orly Agai [an Israeli of Iranian descent], around 15 years ago, I was looking for something beyond just dating [Marley already had three children with two different women].
